Who are you? We are two baby meerkats standing on a red sand dune in the wilderness of Africa. What are you doing? I stood up to see you better. What does my older bro do? He is digging for food. As always, he is hungry. He is on the search all morning right away as soon as he leaves our burrow. His stomach must be empty at all times.
Oh my god, the red dunes of the Kalahari, I can tell you, it is fantastic. The dunes are a dream, my dream, lots of sand.
When we leave our family burrow in the early morning, the most beautiful sunrise light climbs over the dunes to illuminate our territory with warm, orange, and reddish colors. The morning dew is still on the plants and red sand. Yeah, just perfect for us meerkat pups to get wet and dirty in the sand. Grab a chair, sit within this beauty of wilderness – and breathe in our nature.
Our sentry does his duty immediately with the first light. Safety comes first. Can you believe it! He must be a sky worshiper, staring at the sky so often and having a nervously head-turning thing when scanning the horizon.
Nevertheless, we little ones can run freely all over. Of course, we dig in the sand for the yummy bugs in between. Have you seen my sis yet? Check out her nose! I am sure mom will complain as she does when we have the best fun wrestling each other.
We live at the bottom of the globe. Come and visit us sometime. All the way down to the tip, go a bit left, and there we are.
