Grace in Stillness – A majestic elephant captured in full view, gently lowering its trunk into the water for drinking. A timeless elephant black and white portrait showcasing nature’s quiet elegance. I sit all alone at a remote waterhole, watching wild animals come and go throughout the day. The heat feels intense, but patience brings rewards — all day wild animals arriving to quench their thirst. Just nature, pure and untamed.

Elephants, however, follow their own rhythm when visiting rivers or waterholes. On this particular day, they appeared around noon and then again just before sunset. And those African sunsets? They paint the sky with a warm orange glow, adding magic to every photograph, especially when capturing elephants, giraffes and zebras.
In the far distance, an elephant comes out from the bush. Camera ready, I follow his every step. Suddenly he increased the speed, a steady walk turning into a near run over the final 50 meters. Then, right at the water’s edge, he stops. Lowering his trunk, he touches the water’s surface.
With his trunk he draws up the water, a deep, rhythmic pull. His head lifts up, as the elephant spills the water into his open mouth. A peaceful slow calm ritual. Powerful. Humbling, sometimes a bit noisy. Also, this black and white portrait captures that rare connection — nature’s quiet grace, exactly as most of the time I experience it.
