In this black and white picture, an African elephant bull walks along the Zambezi river. The trees growing along the river are beautifully framing the elephant. The sunlight shines through the treetops creating deep shadows, which give an exceptional contrast between light and shade.
About The Black & White Elephant Picture
While searching for African elephants, I came across this majestic elephant bull. He was strolling in the distance along the Zambezi river. Of course, I followed him, hoping that on his way, somewhere would be a gap that gives this majestic wild animal a beautiful frame of the trees. As shown above, I was lucky, he walked right through this natural tree frame.
The Lower Zambezi ecosystem has one of the largest elephant populations. On top comes as well as the poaching for the elephant’s tusks and bush meat. On the way to the Lower Zambezi National Park, you will drive through fruit and vegetable plantages. Of course, there is then human and wildlife conflict, as they share valuable resources. Not to forget, the wildlife is eating sometimes fruit and veggies.
The IUCN lists African Elephant, Loxodonta africana, in the Vulnerable category.
