An Australian lifeguard boat with people is sailing at sea and standing out as a silhouette with the sunset light. Angular mountains are also a silhouette, and it shows off its exciting shape as a backdrop to the boat. The sea still looks blue while the sky is a yellow hue from the sunset light. The sky has a few beautiful scattered soft clouds.
Byron Bay is the easternmost point of the Australian mainland. It is one of Australia’s most popular and well-known beaches, and you will find it littered with tourists a lot of the time. Tourists drive the economy.
A massive attraction to this beach is the snorkeling due to the protection of Cape Byron Marine Park. Therefore, there are beautiful corals and fish to observe when you scuba dive. Many activities are offered and to do, including seeing quaint villages.
Commercial fishing was locally crucial until 1954. After that, a powerful cyclone destroyed Byron Bay’s jetty and most of the local fishing fleet. After the decline of fishing, it then became a whaling port. However, overfishing brought about the near extinction of Australia and New Zealand’s humpback whale population. Fortunately, the population has since rebounded.
