Good morning, beautiful Kalahari. It is time to wake up, and the African sun rises. The Meerkats emerge out of their den. The soft light of the sunlight creates a beautiful silhouette. This small Meerkat is standing upright between the lush green bushes, enjoying the warmth of the African sunrise. A Meerkat is always cute.
With its vibrant orange-reddish colors, the sunrise spotlight this Meerkat. It seems this animal stares into the light. The left leg is a bit lifted to get a tad higher. What can be out there? Right predators, which hunt Meerkats. In short, it is better to always have a watchful eye on the habitat and surroundings.
What’s more? Meerkats need to be careful. Their predators are such as jackals, snakes, and birds of prey like hawks or eagles. Therefore, every family has sentries. They watch over the area while the other family members forage for food and babysit the meerkat pups.
Meerkats, Suricata suricatta are listed as the least concern on the IUCN red list.
