Polar bear sleeping under full moon peacefully. The contrast between the dark rocks and the white polar bear makes it stand out a lot more. The white stands out brilliantly against the black. Undoubtedly, the bear and the moon are the highlights of the photograph. Both are lighter than the dark cliffs. Therefore, catching our attention. Polar bear under a full moon as it sleeps was an incredible sighting. Additionally, the purple/pink color of the sky creates an even more interesting composition.
Polar bears can sense their prey from up to a kilometer away. They can even tell when a seal is beneath them under one meter of hard snow. Since their sense of smell is so incredibly strong, they use it to sniff out seal breathing holes. Once they have found one, they will sit patiently at the hole to wait for a seal to come. That is their moment to strike for a potential meal.
Polar bears, Ursus maritimus were, were one of the first species to become threatened. Due to climate change and the loss of sea ice. As the earth warms, there is a more extended melting season for the ice. That means less hunting time for the polar bears. As a result, they are on the list as a threatened species on the IUCN list.
