The Quiver Tree branches point to the sky. Under the heat of the scorching Namibian sun is this gorgeous tree growing. All the colors in this photograph are bright and vibrant. Including the golden sunrise, light is reflecting off the Quiver Tree branches.
Anette photographed from a low angle to create this exciting effect. Therefore, the branches create beautiful patterns against the backdrop of the sky. White wispy clouds float above the ends of the Quiver Tree’s branches.
A particularly interesting fact is that we can use it as a fridge. It is true! The trunk we can hollow out while meats and vegetables we can store inside of it. As a result of the trunks fibrous tissue having a cooling effect. Therefore, creating a natural cold fridge in the middle of the desert!
The Latin name for a Quiver Tree is Aloidendron dichotomum. Where can you see the Quiver Trees? Well, in southern Namibia as well in South Africa. There are Quiver Tree forests open to the public.
