The two Meerkats on the lookout sit in the middle of the composition with brown grasses and blue skies as a background. That is a perfect view of their cheeky little faces. The open savanna is the ideal environment for them to scan the horizons.
Meerkats On Lookout
Unmistakably recognizable by their upright stances and sweet pointy noses. Meerkats have lively and lovable personalities and have no problem scurrying up to you. These two Meerkats on the lookout are as cute and adorable as they look; however, they are relentless in their survival.
During the dry seasons with little water in sight, they will dig up succulent tubers from the ground to get their share of water. In Meerkats’s mob, there is a dominant male that prevents other males from mating with the females.
Furthermore, there is also a dominant female that will produce more pups than other females. The entire mob of Meerkats will look after the pups. At least one adult will guard them in the den in case neighboring mobs try and kill the young.
Meerkats, Suricata suricatta, are in category least concern on the IUCN red list. Their populations thrive mostly in southwestern Africa.
