Sossusvlei, Namibia, Africa

Early morning, the first rays of the sun create a path of sunlight illuminating the pan along with the 5 dead trees in Sossusvlei, Namibia. The first sunlight touches the trees and white clay pan, which creates a beautiful contrast between the dune and trees.

Early morning, the first rays of the sun create a path of sunlight illuminating the pan along with the 5  black and white dead trees in Sossusvlei, Namibia. When first the light touches the ends of the tree branches on top, the candles are lit.

An amazing view, which lasts not too long. But when the light moves slowly to the white clay pan, it illuminates these 5 dead trees. Indeed, a magical contrast between the dune, background, foreground, and the lit-up trees.

Black And White Trees In Sossusvlei

As a matter of fact, Sossusvlei with its Dead trees, is one of the most famous places in Namibia. Many tourists are keen to see the orange / red sand dunes and, of course, the white clay pans. That makes this landscape unique. The most known clay pan is Deadvlei, with the most of Dead Acacia trees standing on it.

The age of the trees we estimate of around 900 years. Of course, including all the other dead trees in the area. Somehow the white pan acts as a tomb for these grey / black ghosts. Many photographers dream of going to Sossusvlei in Namibia to capture the dead trees. As you see, this unique place offers a significant amount of contrast amongst the claypan and dunes.
