A wildlife photograph that shows an elephant eating from a tree, while he stretches its body fully to reach a branch. Same time he lifts his head to grab with his trunk a branch. He has his right leg in the air to gain a bit more of height.

A Desert elephant eats from a tree, while the bull stretches with all his might to get to that branch. He uses one of the many capabilities of its dynamic trunk. As a result, its mouth is slightly open. Same time he shows us a good view of the pink color inside its mouth. Nearly the entire top half of the photograph takes the green hanging leaves of the tree. In the bottom half is of the mighty bull stretching as much as he can. Behind him are more green bushes and the slanted side of a rock face. Indeed, Desert elephants have adapted to be resourceful as there is not always an abundance of food and water.

Undoubtedly, The Trunk Has Many Features And Uses

  • Elephants use it in conjunction with the tusks to break down branches. In the desert elephant, that you see above is eating from a tree.
  • Pick bundles of grass with its trunk.
  • Conveying food to the mouth.
  • Drink by filling the trunk with water to squirt into their mouths.
  • Cool themselves by spraying water over their bodies.
  • They will dig for water in drought periods, using first the tusks, then the trunk.

African elephants, Loxodonta africana, are listed in category vulnerable of the IUCN list.
