A beautiful African Leopard tail is hanging down a branch in that wildlife fine art photograph. A secretive leopard chooses a tree to rest and lets his long tail hang down. Behind the animal’s tail, you see the bark of the tree.

The gorgeous African Leopard tail is contrast-rich against the dark background in this wildlife fine art photograph. We see unique dark spots against the light fur. The leopard’s long tail is undoubtedly making the focus of this photograph. Behind the animal’s tail, you see the bark of a tree.

Leopard Tail In Black And White

A Leopard tail is nearly as long as its’ entire body. Acting like a rudder, it helps the Leopard turn the body quickly while chasing prey. Not only does it enhance movement, but it also has a few other functions. For example, to communicate and to express the Leopard’s mood. It also increases their balance when climbing up a tree, acting as an additional thumb or finger. That undoubtedly allows them to be more agile. Leopards can drag their kills up into trees using their incredible strength. Sometimes even a kill that is heavier than their bodyweight! This ability, as well as the fact that they can run up to 58 km/h 36 mi/h, makes them spectacular hunters.

Leopards have spots on the body and substantial black patches on the legs, head, and sides. Their black spots we call “rosettes” because the shape is similar to that of a rose. African Leopards are the most secretive and elusive of the large cats. They often use trees to hunt, spot prey, or just rest.

The Leopard, Panthera pardus, is in the category vulnerable on the IUCN red list.

Beautiful monochrome Fine Art Photo of the tail of the Leopard.

The leopard was resting all day in a tree. Moving from one branch to the other. Sometimes the tail was hanging down. That gave me the opportunity to take a different picture of an African leopard. 😀
      Thanks so much.
