On top of a cliff rises the Lighthouse Pointe Saint Mathieu, which is surrounded by soft moving clouds. As you can see, extended exposure has created moving water and clouds to look soft.

The Lighthouse Pointe Saint Mathieu is standing on a cliff overlooking the bay. As you can see, the extended exposure of the photograph has created the moving water to look soft in the sky and water surface. By comparison, the blue color on the bottom balances out the blue color at the top. On top of the cliffs rises the Lighthouse Pointe St. Mathieu, which is surrounded by soft moving clouds.

Lighthouse In Brittany

Near the cliffs pummelled by the sea and elements, a striking lighthouse watches over the ruins of a former abbey. Undoubtedly, a compelling scene. Lighthouse Pointe Saint Mathieu feels like the very essence of Brittany.

This iconic structure is from the year 1835 among the ruins of the ancient Abbaye Saint-Mathieu de Fine-Terre. Furthermore, Lighthouse Pointe Saint Mathieu is a significant lighthouse along the French coast and reaches a range of around 55 kilometers / 34 miles.

Some facts about lighthouses:

  • The first one ever built comes from Egypt.
  • However, the world’s oldest operating lighthouse we consider to be the Tower of Hercules. That tower is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that marks the entrance of Spain’s La Coruña harbor.
  • Overall, America has more lighthouses than any other country.
  • Lighthouse keeping was one of the first U.S. government jobs available to women in the 19th century.
  • Surprisingly, the U.S. Coast Guard still considers lighthouses as aids for navigation, even with technological advances.
  • Each tower has different colors and patterns to differentiate them from each other.
