In the African Lioness close-up of her eye, the beautiful lioness looks to the right of the personal photograph. Her gaze locked on some movement that caught her eye. As the photograph shows, there is a gash underneath her eye. A fellow lion or another animal most likely was the cause of this scar.

The Okavango Delta we know is one of the world’s largest inland deltas on the planet. While most river deltas usually lead to an ocean, the Okavango River empties onto open land. As a result, it floods the savanna and creates a unique and ever-changing inland delta. The delta expands almost three times in size between March and August. It changes from 6,000 square kilometers to approximately 15,000.

Many people enjoy water-based safaris in the Okavango delta. They are traveling through the waterways on traditional mokoro canoes. These traditional boats were built from carved-out tree trunks in earlier days. However, nowadays, they make them out of more environmentally-friendly fiberglass. In February 2013, the Okavango Delta received the name of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.

Lion’s eyes are quite large, with round pupils that are three times as big as a human’s. Furthermore, a second eyelid, called a nictitating membrane, helps to clean and protect the eye.

The impressive lion, Panthera Leo, is in the category vulnerable in the IUCN red list.
