In Norway and Denmark, the polar bear is called ‘isbjorn,’ which means ‘ice bear.’ Polar bears generally give birth to twins. It is uncommon for them to birth only one cub or triplets. These cubs will stay with their mother until they are two years old.
Polar bears, Ursus maritimus were, are listed as a threatened species on the IUCN list.
