The extraordinary White-capped Noddy portrait. Indeed it looks angry at you. It stands on a piece of coral and looks straight into your eyes. The white feathers on its head, certainly look like it wears a cap.

The extraordinary White-capped Noddy portrait. Indeed it is a bird that looks angry at you. Well, in that photograph. It stands on a piece of coral and looks straight into your eyes, like an angry, confrontational bird. The white feathers on its head, certainly look like it wears a cap. Since it sits on a white coral, you can see its webbed feet. The beach consists of bleached corals, crunched to fine sand, or much more substantial pieces. The background includes sand, coral, and far away from bushes.

White-capped Noddy Portrait

This feisty White-capped Noddy is a seabird living worldwide in tropical and subtropical areas. You can find this species in the central Atlantic, northeast Indian, and in the Pacific Ocean. That White-capped Noddy portrait photograph was taken on Lady Elliott Island at the Great Barrier Reef.

Indeed the Great Barrier Reef is the 7th natural wonder of the earth. Undoubtedly, it is so large we can see it from space! The Great Barrier Reef is the second largest reef on the planet. Long as 2300 km and covering 344 400 square kilometers. Wow! To make the size a bit more imaginable to you: the Great Barrier Reef is as large as Japan or Italy. To compare, Kruger National Park in South Africa is the size of Belgium, which is much smaller! The Great Barrier Reef was created as a Marine Park in 1975. The bird residents consist of 215 species, with many other species living underwater. As sad as it is because its main threats are human-influence. Who would have guessed that! After all, the result, about 50% of the coral decline from 1985 until 2012.

There I wonder how the reef looks today in 2020! The home of this White-capped Noddy and 214 other bird species. Especially the 1625 underwater species! Not to mention, the 600 species of soft and hard corals.

Yes, way too funny they do look. On top, they always seem to be like angry birds. 😀

I love this photograph. Such a cheeky little Noddy. He was not enjoying the click of the camera! Haha. I also love the cool colours and dramatic contrast between its’ dark body and the white ground.
