Photo Tour To Photograph The Elusive Snow Leopards

This small group (6 persons) snow leopard photo tour is led by the award-winning professional photographer Anette Mossbacher. She offers you a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see and photograph one of the world’s most elusive and enigmatic big cats, the Snow leopard.

The tour starts in Delhi, where you will spend one night in India’s capital city.

What we can encounter on our Snow Leopard Photo Tour – Two leopards having an intimate moment in the snow.

The Exclusive Photo Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1, after breakfast, we will transfer to the airport to fly to the town at the foot of the Himalayas. We will be picked up and transferred by road to our first stop on our way up to the mountains.

  • Day 2, we continue by road to our next accommodation, stopping at interesting points for landscape photography.
    (Full board basis)
  • Day 3, we continue our ascent up the Himalayas by road, stopping to visit and photograph the Monasteries we find on our way and also for some landscape photography.
    Arrive at the accommodation, which will be our home for the duration of the snow leopard tour.
    Rest of the day at leisure to acclimatize.

What might encounter on our Snow Leopard Photo Tour the amazing snow leopard on the prowl through the deep snow.

  • Day 4-8 (Full Board basis)
    A typical day on our Snow leopard photo tour is as follows:
    Early wake-up call and breakfast.
    Meanwhile, our trackers will be already out tracking snow leopards.
    After breakfast, we will be driven to the spot marked by the trackers.
    We will spend the entire day photographing snow leopards, ibexes, blue sheep, foxes, and other Himalayan fauna we encounter.
    At sunset, we will return to our accommodation for dinner.
  • We will have one porter per person to assist us with our photo gear and tripods.
    Camping chairs and mountain walking sticks will be provided for us while in the field.
    Hot drinks such as coffee and tea will be served to us in the field.
    Also included: snacks and a packed lunch.
The elusive leopard is crossing a mountain rim high up in the Himalayas mountains.

A beautiful animal indeed is the snow leopard, and certainly not easy to find in the high mountains of the Himalayas.

  • Day 9, after breakfast, we transfer by road to the town at the foot of the Himalayas. On the way, we stop for lunch.
    Arrival at our accommodation and have dinner.
  • Day 10, after breakfast, we will be driven to the next town where the airport is to catch the flight back to Delhi in the evening.
    Arrival in Delhi and transfer to our hotel in Delhi
    (Bed and Breakfast basis)
  • Day 11.
    Breakfast at the hotel and, depending on the time of your departure flight, an optional tour (not included) of Delhi can be organized in advance.

High up in the Himalayas, you find the wonderful elusive snow leopards.

Important notes regarding the Photo Tour

We do the ascent by road up the Himalayas in 2 stages to let us acclimate to the altitude.
A low to medium level of fitness is required for this photo tour.
The approximate maximum walking distance would be around 500m. Still, you will have a porter to carry your photo gear and tripod.

Clothes required for this photo tour

  • Ski jacket, thermal fleeces, thermal hats, thermal gloves, ski pants, thermal inners, snow boots
  • Photography Gear: camera/s, at least 3 extra batteries, a lens with a reach of at least 600mm
  • Binoculars
  • Tripod

We require all guests to be fully vaccinated for Covid.
